  1. Information on searching
  2. ------------------------

  4. SiteMaster's search capabilities (both for links and across whole files)
  5. are very powerful, but is important to understand how the wildcard system
  6. works in order to use the facilities properly.
  7.  
  8. If you do not specify any wildcards (and don't tick the Wildcard box),
  9. SiteMaster will try and match the string entered to the whole of the
  10. link.  With files, the program will automatically add wildcards at the
  11. start and end, as it is unlikely that you will want to enter the whole
  12. of the file's content, which is what would happen otherwise.  If you
  13. do wish to do this, simply turn on wildcards, but don't use them - 
  14. SiteMaster will not try and intelligently add wildcards at the start
  15. and end.

  17. Thus, to find the occurance of the word "click", you would enter
  18. \*click\* as your search string.  The window contains several other
  19. wildcards which will be helpful in extending your searches.

  22. Information on replacing
  23. ------------------------

  25. When replacing two other Wildcards will be active \0 and \1.  These
  26. correspond to the test preceeding the found string, and the text following
  27. it.  So, to replace the word "click" as above, we might replace with
  28. "\0click firmly\1".

  30. You can select a number of entries to replace by using the right mouse
  31. button.  You can also use the menu to view the file or edit it in 
  32. HTMLEdit etc.
